MECHANICAL RECYCLING

  • The Polymer Technology Laboratory (LATEP) is a certified laboratory according to ISO 9001:2008 for performing analysis and characterization tests on polymeric materials, following international standards. At the same time, LATEP has several research lines in the synthesis, characterization, recycling, and circular economy of polymer materials.

LATEP laboratories include last-generation techniques for the mechanical, thermal, and rheological characterization of polymeric materials, as well as state-of-the-art equipment for the structural and morphological characterization of polyolefins. More information about the equipment available and the research lines can be found here.

CHEMICAL RECYCLING

  • In the Thermochemical Processes Unit we work on the development of materials (mainly catalysts and redox solids) and thermochemical processes for the valorization of biomass, CO2 and solid wastes.

Our infrastructures include equipment for the synthesis of zeolites and other heterogeneous catalysts, reactors in different modes of operation (batch, continuous feeding, fixed-bed, stirred reactors), as well as a variety of instrumental techniques for the characterization of catalysts and reaction products. More info about are research activities here.

SYSTEM ANALYSIS

  • In the Systems Analysis Unit we are focused on designing and evaluating energy processes and systems from laboratory and pilot plant scale research, developing predictive models, simulating and optimising them for industrial scale-up.

In addition, we develop and apply advanced life cycle analysis tools for the comparison of different technologies to ensure that they will be environmentally sustainable, economically viable and socially responsible.
